Welcome to Mount Dunstan Estates
Premium grapes from the heart of Central Otago
At Mount Dunstan Estates, we are proud to be a dedicated commercial grower of high-quality pinot noir wine grapes, supplying some of New Zealand’s most respected winemakers. The vineyard sits high on a dryland plateau above Clyde township under the watchful eye of Leaning Rock, Haehaeata. The vines experience soaring summer and freezing winter temperatures. It is here, on the very edge of winemaking viability, that the vines thrive and reward the winemaker with spectacular wine of outstanding flavour and quality.
THE PERFECT MIX
Soil & Climate
Pinot Noir gets its name from the French words for ‘pine’ and ‘black,’ reflecting the dark-hued skin and pine cone-shaped bunches. With a long history dating back to Burgandy in the 1st century, Central Otago is now home to some of the world’s finest pinot noirs.
Pinot noir flavours express the story of the land or Pinot Noir terroir. Central Otago’s extreme climate, mineral-rich soils, and dramatic diurnal shifts create a distinctive terroir unlike any other. Low rainfall, intense sunlight, and long ripening periods concentrate flavour in the fruit, while the region’s schist and gravel soils provide excellent drainage and structure. These conditions produce wines with purity, precision, and vibrant character -true expressions of place.
COMMITMENT TO CARE
The Finest Grapes
Without the best fruit, you can’t make the best wine!
Widely regarded as one of the most finicky grape varieties to work with, we take pride in our careful vineyard management. Mount Dunstan supplies world-class Central Otago Pinot Noir grapes to New Zealand vintners who produce award-winning Pinot Noir and Pinot Noir Rosé wines destined for local and international markets.
Our commitment to care is guided by Sustainable Winegrowing NZ regulations to ensure we meet international standards for sustainability practices.

Mount Dunstan Estates offers a relaxed, rural lifestyle within a 56-hectare Pinot Noir vineyard. Today, the vineyard is home to 16 shareholders who, since 2010, have joined forces to manage their share of this established vineyard.
